Government-backed finance

The Warm Homes Loan Scheme,
explained properly

A government-backed way to pay for solar panels, battery storage or a heat pump with nothing upfront, spread over a term you agree with a lender.

We are MCS certified, which the scheme requires. Coventry based, covering the Midlands.

Let us check it

Tell us about your property and what you would like fitted. One of our team will check it against the scheme and come back to you.

The loan comes from a lender, not from us. The scheme's conditions and borrowing limits are published at gov.uk/warm-homes-loan-scheme.

The Figures

How much you can borrow

These are the measures we install, and the most the scheme allows for each. You can borrow for more than one — panels and a battery together, for instance.

Figures from the government's Warm Homes Loan Scheme factsheet, published 27 October 2026. The scheme covers some measures we do not install, such as ground source heat pumps and heat networks. We cannot tell you what rate or term you would be offered — that is the lender's decision and depends on your circumstances.

Background

A little about the scheme

The idea is a simple one: fit a heat pump, solar panels or a battery now, pay nothing upfront, and spread the cost over several years. The government backs the loans — it describes them as no- and low-interest — and says the aim is to help thousands more households bring their energy bills down.

Demand has climbed quickly, which is no surprise to us. It is what we see across the Midlands, week in and week out.

Where We Work

Warm Homes loans across the Midlands

The scheme is open across the UK, but the survey, the installation and the certificate all need someone local. We are based in Coventry and our engineers cover the Midlands day to day, so the whole job — the quote, the work and the support afterwards — comes from one firm down the road.

Most of our Warm Homes enquiries come from Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull, Leamington Spa, Rugby and Nuneaton, though we cover a good deal more than that. Tell us where you are and we will say straight away whether we can reach you.

Running a business rather than improving a home? Different funding applies — see business energy grants.

Eligibility

Who can apply

The scheme sets these conditions. Lenders may apply further rules of their own on top of them, so meeting all of these does not guarantee you will be approved.

Not sure whether your property qualifies? Tell us about it and we will give you a straight answer, including if the answer is no.

  • You own the property, with or without a mortgage
  • The property is in the UK
  • The property is residential, not commercial
  • The work is done by an MCS certified installer
  • You do not carry out the work yourself
Step by Step

How it works

  1. 01

Free survey and a written quote

We look at your property and quote for the work itself. No obligation, and nothing to pay for the survey.

  2. 02

    You apply to a lender

The loan comes from a lender, not from us and not from the government. We will talk you through the finance options and point you to the lenders on the government’s list.

  3. 03

    The lender decides

They run their own affordability, credit and eligibility checks, and set the rate and the term. That decision is theirs alone.

  4. 04

    We install it

Our MCS certified engineers carry out the work and issue your certificate, which the scheme requires you to keep.

Where we fit in

We are the installer, not the lender. We survey your property, quote for the work and carry it out to MCS standards, which the scheme requires. We do not lend money, we do not set rates, and we do not decide who is approved.

We can talk you through the finance options and point you to the lenders on the government's list. You are free to approach any of them, or to arrange finance elsewhere entirely, and we would rather you compared.
